Applications | Highways & Roads
The Reinforced Earth Company’s variety of products is widely used on public and private transportation projects. Applications in this field are predominantly for the construction of retaining walls, bridge abutments, and approach ramps supporting roadways, roadway underpasses and overpasses, cut-and-cover tunnels, and noise walls. Structures can be designed for use in permanent applications, with a design life of 75 to 100 years, as well as temporary applications such as phasing and surcharge walls. The versatility of the technology allows engineers and architects wide-ranging flexibility in terms addressing geotechnical, geometrical, and architectural requirements.
Reinforced Earth® projects require shorter construction time versus more traditional construction methods. Construction does not require any scaffolding permitting minimum encroachment to right-of-way. Requirements for detour and disruption to traffic can be considerably reduced.
